Well, now I think it is simply mistyped: if you put the 2 words 'waist' + 'steering' together it should read 'waiststeering' (and not 'waisteering') and yes, Germans like to put words together, at least in the past. Nowaways Germans start to write the compounds as seperate parts like 'Quark Speise'...
