Hi,
I am a novice in skiing. My first trip to Austria is planned for january. I am considering to buy a pair of second hand ski's. I can get them for the price of one week rental. I am 1m90 tall and about 83 kg. What length of carve ski's do you advise?
Regards,
Tim

Why don't your rent some skis??
So you can choose another ski every day...
Monday you try Atomic in 1.70.
Tuesday you try Head in 1.60.

Hi Tim,
if you are an absolute beginner in skiing, it doesn´t make sense to buy a ski, because in the first (learning)week you need quite another ski, than after this first week (if you are an enhanced skier

).
In the first 2 or 3 day you need perhaps some ski like snowblades (about 100 cm length). The next 2 or 3 days you can have a allround-carver of about 140 - 150 cm ... and in the last days and your next skiholiday you can drive a ski of 150 - 170 cm. You see ... if you buy a 140 cm ski, it´s too long for the first days and too short for your 2. skiholiday.
I suggest: Go to a public skirental and rent the ski you need each day. If you are succesfull in learning, you can have a 160 cm ski the last (2) day(s). After this week ask at the rental, if you can buy the rental-ski, you´ve had the last day ... mostly the rental-ski are also very cheap and mostly you don´t have to pay any rental-fee

danke
