Colorado USA becomes home to another ski builder...."Sterling Skis" in Colorado is putting out a new "luxury ski" at http://www.sterlingskis.com.
No more than 140 pairs to be built in 2007-2008 launch season. Available in 163cm, 174cm and 185cm, all with 116-76-102 geometry with the choice of 3 beautiful exotic wood topsheets. 48 HRC stainless steel edges (ever try to sharpen a stainless steel ski edge? Not easy by hand). Vist race-bred plates and bindings complete the package. All yours for a mere $3,499 usd (includes carbon fiber poles and a velvet-lined wooden cabinet box).
The company is US, but they are manufactured in Europe, specs apparently derived from European designers. "Global Ski" anyone? Nice looking...but kind of expensive.
I don't know too many people willing to plunk down $3500 usd on a pair of skis these days...but there are some...
Nice pics on the site.
We should have a demo pair after January and will post experiences here on Carving-ski.de and ExoticSkis.com from as many people as we can get. They are doing the western U.S. show and demo circuit early this season, so if anyone gets to try a pair at a demo day.. post your reviews in the gear review section. Wish 'em luck...
